The one time I had schnitzel was maybe a few months ago…at a French bistro and it wasn’t good at all. So, I thought all schnitzel was supposed to have the texture of a flat, dry cracker.

My friend E came to the rescue and showed us what German food should taste like and off we went to Haus Murphy’s in Glendale, Arizona.

The Mister and I ordered the Bauernplatte for two which should’ve been for four. It was a gargantuan platter of German bratwurst, a big beefy bratwurst, one smoked kassler, a portion of meatloaf and pork schnitzel served with sauerkraut, red cabbage and German fried potatoes. There was barely any space on the table because the dish was that massive.

We didn’t finish it, but ended up taking it up with us to the Petrified Forest and the Meteor Crater. It definitely came in handy for lunch during the long drive!
